When Do Minutes Matter: Prioritizing 911 calls when demand exceeds availability
For this white paper, I coordinated and contributed to its creation, working closely with our research team to ensure every detail was accurate, impactful, and relevant for both our customers and the EMS industry. With EMS agencies across the U.S. facing rising call volumes and limited resources, this study—conducted with Johns Hopkins and covering over 1.7 million EMS incidents—pinpoints areas for improvement in dispatch practices. The findings reveal that 6% of responses require time-critical interventions, providing EMS leaders with actionable insights to better allocate resources and prioritize urgent cases.
